The South Lowestoft Arm goes live

Due to the size of our town a seperate arm of the Lowestoft Responders has gone live.

The South Lowestoft section covers all areas South of the river Waveney. This saves our members travelling across town to an incident which can take up to 20 minutes. The South Lowestoft arm still comes under the control of the Lowestoft Coordinator and as such is still part of the Lowestoft team however to make life easier for Ambulance Control they have a different callsign.

Lowestoft Lions Kindly Donate a full second kit

The Lowestoft Lions Kindly donated £2000 recently which enabled us to go live with a second kit. This will mean there will be two responders available to cover both ends of the town which in the summer season should help immensely.

Satellite Navigation System Stolen

Late on the evening of the 7th June one of our vehicles was broken into and the Satellite Navigation system stolen. The prevented a response to a cardiac arrest in the area. These people need to be caught. If anyone has any news on being offered a Tom Tom One system please contact CSO Drew of Suffolk Police.

This obviously means we now have to fundraise another £200 to replace the item, money that could have been better spent improving our equipment.

Ladies Guild Donates £200

A Local Ladies Guild have kindly donated £200 to replace the stolen Satellite Navigation System. This will enable our volunteers to respond much quicker in the local area to life threatening calls.

Summer season at an end

Even though the summer is coming to an end we are still as busy as ever. With an average of 50 calls a month our responders are still seen around town on a regular basis. We have some exciting prospects for the new year with a plan to try to get a sponsored vehicle and also to be one of the first responder groups to travel by motorbike to allow us quicker access to the patients in the heavy traffic.

If anyone would like to assist us in sponsoring either the car or bike please contact our coordinator.

Lions Donate another £50

We are pleased to say that the Lowestoft Lions have donated another £50 toward our running costs. This was after some of our team attended their Gala Day with a display and assisted them on the gate collecting in buckets.

Busy Weekend

The weekend of the 14th and 15th of October proved to be a busy one for the Lowestoft Responders. Between 10pm on the Saturday Night and 6am Sunday Morning Neil and Ben attended 15 calls between them which included one trip to hospital in the back of an Ambulance with a patient for Neil as the vehicle was single crewed. Sods law dictated that as he was getting a lift back to his car the Ambulance got another “Red” Call so two blue light runs in one night.

At 6.30 both Neil and Ben managed to get home for a well deserved coffee and a short sleep before the Kids woke them!
